Thanks to grant funding provided to Enjoy Leisure by CWP Ltd through Dunbar Community Council’s Community Benefit Fund, Dunbar Leisure Pool will receive updated pool equipment, including storage equipment for swimming lessons and bleed control kits, which are vital in a leisure centre setting.
We have been awarded the grant, which will not only enhance how swimming lessons are delivered but also ensure the continued safety of visitors to Dunbar Leisure Pool.
Kirsty Lobban, our Sports Development Manager said, “The extremely generous funding from CWP Ltd through Dunbar Community Council’s Community Benefit Fund will help Enjoy Leisure’s swimming teachers deliver lessons effectively and ensure we can react as quickly as possible to all types of incidents.
“Very recently, we supported a member of the public who was seriously injured in an incident and required immediate first aid for traumatic bleeding. This occurred just outside one of our sports centres. As an open public building, we were the first point of contact. With trained first aiders on-site, two of our colleagues were able to provide critical support until emergency services arrived.
“Following this incident, we explored the possibility of having ‘Stop the Bleed Kits,’ which are designed to provide users with immediate access to tools that slow traumatic haemorrhaging before professional help arrives. This grant gives us the reassurance that we can equip our staff to better assist the public and our community in emergency situations.”
Alasdair Swan from Dunbar Community Council, said, “Our swimming pool is so important to the life and health of our community. It was a real pleasure for the Community Council to be able to support the facility in this way. We hope that many more will take advantage of the safe swimming lessons on offer.”
