This month, Paralympic medallist Maria Lyle hung up her spikes as she announced her retirement from competitive athletics.
Maria started her sporting journey at Dunbar Running Club before going on to win five Paralympic medals and a host of others in World Championships in the sprints.
In addition to speaking openly about the impact her experiences have had on her mental health, Maria said on Instagram, “I want to thank the many coaches and training partners that have supported me and been a part of my journey.”
We’re wishing Maria all the best in her next chapter and want to thank her for inspiring so many young people in our community!
