Directors and everyone at Enjoy Leisure are devastated following the news of the passing of Dr Jon Turvill, who was a resolute and much respected non-executive Director of Enjoy Leisure. Jon has been a pivotal figure within Enjoy Leisure for many years, especially during our ongoing recovery from the pandemic and lockdown. Jon, who also served as a local GP and previously as Clinical Director of East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership was an unsung architect of community vitality within East Lothian.
His commitment to the health benefits of physical activity was no better demonstrated by him being deeply invested in our community’s well-being and supported the principal that swimming pools, gyms, sport centres and community halls should remain as the very heartbeat of local life.
Jon’s deep commitment to public health, social inclusion and fostering a sense of belonging will never be forgotten and continue to be the cornerstone of everything we are working hard to achieve.
Everyone at Enjoy Leisure pauses to remember Jon’s invaluable contributions and his dedication to community wellbeing.
Jon’s passing may have ended a lifetime dedicated to public service, but his legacy will remain, leaving a community united in respect and gratitude for a life well spent.
We send our sincere condolences to Jon’s family and friends at this difficult time.
