Work on an extension at our Aubigny Sports Centre is about to get underway.
The extension will be used to accommodate a new gym area within our facility, offering significantly more space and an improved range of equipment.
It will feature Pulse Fitness equipment including a large free weights area with half racks, cable pulleys, an adjustable Olympic bench, multi-functional plate loaded machine, dumbbells up to 50KG and benches.
A functional training space will also be created featuring a training rig, powerbags, kettlebells, suspension training equipment, sledge and high intensity training machines. More traditional cardiovascular equipment will be maintained including new stepmills and fixed resistance machines to cater for all the community.
Work is expected to be completed in spring 2025 and is funded through developer contributions from new development in Haddington.
Bill Axon, Chief Executive of Enjoy Leisure, said: “The team here at Enjoy Leisure is thrilled about the extension at our Aubigny Sports Centre, which will provide a new gym area and updated equipment. The benefits of movement are endless, and we are confident the new facilities will offer many more people opportunities to boost their physical activity, which in turn will improve both their personal and mental wellbeing. Prevention by leading healthy lifestyles is always better than any cure.”
Tom Reid, Head of Infrastructure, East Lothian Council, said: “We are delighted to begin work on this very important project which will increase the size of the building, enabling a modern gym to be created. It will help meet demand for high-quality sport and recreation facilities of this kind in the local area.”
