Poolpod lifts are available in East Lothian at Aubigny Sports Centre, Musselburgh Sports Centre and North Berwick Sports Centre. Step-free access is also available at Dunbar Leisure Pool via a beach-style ramp.
Poolpod is an award-winning swimming pool lift that allows swimmers to enter and exit the water safely and comfortably, either using a submersible wheelchair or by standing as the lift descends into the pool.
The submersible wheelchair allows users to transfer from their own chair in the privacy of the changing room. Alternatively, the choice is there to remain standing.
They’re easy to use and support a wide range of people who may find traditional pool steps challenging.
You can use a Poolpod independently or with assistance from one of our team members.
When you arrive, tell a member of staff that you’d like to use the Poolpod. There’s no need to explain why, our team are trained and happy to help if needed.
If you’re a regular user, you may be offered a wristband so you can operate the Poolpod yourself.
The Poolpod sits level with the poolside, so you can wheel or walk straight onto it
We can assist at this stage if requested.
Using the simple control button or wristband, the Poolpod gently lowers you into the pool. You can choose the depth that feels comfortable.
Once in the water, you swim as usual.
