Thanks to funding provided to the local charity Enjoy Leisure by the SafeDeposits Scotland Community Fund, specialised training will take place to ensure that every first-aid-trained colleague at the charity is equipped to manage a catastrophic bleeding incident.
As East Lothian’s health and wellbeing charity, we were awarded the grant to cover the cost of vital bleed control kits, as well as the necessary training to use the equipment effectively in emergencies.
Audrey Murray, our Head of Business Development said, “Following an incident where we had to support a member of the public who was seriously injured outside one of our sports centres, we explored the possibility of equipping our facilities with bleeding control kits. These kits are designed to provide immediate access to products that slow traumatic haemorrhaging until professional help arrives.
“The incredibly generous support from SafeDeposits Scotland will enable us to manage these situations effectively. The training will also ensure all of our colleagues feel confident in using the equipment.”
Alan Partridge, Marketing Manager at SafeDeposits Scotland, said, ”We are delighted to be supporting Enjoy Leisure by awarding a grant from our Community Fund to secure these vital kits and the training to use them.
“In awarding this grant, we were compelled by the charity’s commitment to providing an important and potentially life saving service to communities in East Lothian.”
